Way of the Cross Vision Statement

Way of the Cross exists to be a praying, praising, prophetic preaching, prosperous, peculiar, and people reaching church who's passion is for Jesus.

1.  We are a praying church. We are a church filled with the spirit of prayer going from heart to heart. We are a church where people love to pray and pray to love. We are a church of strategic prayer warriors--praying for the harvest and for workers in the harvest. We are a church filled with intercessors who display the gift of encouragement, inspiring others to join in a world changing prayer ministry and life. We are a church that understands the power of II Chronicles 7:7 "If my people who are called by name will humble themselves and pray..."

2.  We are a praising and worshipping church. We are a congregation that will be known for how we give ourselves in and to worship. Singing and worshipping as described in Ephesians 5:19 characterizes our services. Though we may display worship in different ways, there are no spectators, nobody on the sidelines, but the entire congregation pronounces in unity, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!" As we display and give ourselves to pure praise and worship, the joyous Spirit of God will control our services. We will shout, sing, clap, dance with all our hearts before the Lord. It is our prayer in the midst of such worship that lives will be changed, sinners saved, people healed, drug and alcohol addictions broken, marriages made whole. As new songs arise among us the Holy Spirit will have access to demonstrate His power.

3.  We are a prophetic preaching church. God's Holy Inerrant Word is alive on the lips of all His people. The Holy Spirit is going to make the minister a "flame of fire" and he will preach with signs following (Acts 10). The whole Council of the word is spoken and gifts of wisdom and knowledge will complement the gifts of teaching and prophecy. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, people's hearts will bear witness as the scriptures are opened and expounded upon. In this church, God uses the foolishness of preaching to bring revival and renewal to the city, state, nation, and the world.

4.  We are a prosperous church. We are a church with no lack in the storehouse. Money is only a means to an end. The end...to reach all people for the cause of Christ. There will be resources to help the widow, the orphan, the sick, the family in financial crisis. This great resource of finance will come first from God's people honoring Him with the tithe. We will honor God with all financial decisions, asking Him how He would like us to invest His money. We will seek first to honor Him in our finances and give Him opportunity to meet every need. (Mat. 6:33 & 34; 7:7-11)

5.  We are a peculiar church. We are comprised of people from every walk of life--a professional worshipping along side a day laborer. Class does not mean anything in this church. All ethnicity is represented, making us a colorful church and demonstrating the beautiful creativity of our God. Young people seek out the older ones, the older ones take time to sit with the young. Diversity is celebrated! Different languages, different colors, different walks of life, different appearances, different worship styles all wonderfully worshipping and seeking one true God. "It will be like the dew falling from Mt. Herman..." ...unity! The diversity is a microcosm of heaven. In this church no one will be overlooked, no one will be devalued. We will be known as a church that solidly demonstrates the love of God, therefore, we will be know as His. (I Peter 2:9,10; Psalm 133)

6.  We are a people reaching church. All of the above mentioned elements of our desired future compel us to be the "light" and the "city" to which God has called us. To ever strive to help people know what a wonderful family the family of God is. We believe people matter to God and therefore, we will point the way to Him. (Mat. 5:13-15) We passionately live and serve Jesus in order for this desired future to become reality.
